Hello Horse Lovers!

We are looking forward to seeing you this summer for our week-long Summer Camp; it will be a fun and exciting learning experience!

Camp will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon), Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 3, 2009.  Please complete the paper work and submit the registration forms by Friday, June 26th.  The price for the camp is $200.00 with a nonrefundable $100.00 deposit. There will be scholarships available upon approval.

For campers from out of the area, we offer free camping for families on our lawns, or you may stay in one of the many unfurnished rooms in the conference center.

Oakhorse Summer Camp is a Christ-centered horse camp with a half-hour lesson/devotional every morning on the importance of Christ in our lives.  After the devotional, campers will be grouped by age and ability.  Then they will rotate through five activities: vaulting, longeline lessons, group riding lessons, stable management, and catch, lead and groom.  Each camper will have approximately 1½ hours of ride time.  After camp on the last day, a tri-tip dinner will be served for the camper and three family members or friends.  There will be a $15.00 charge for each additional person.

For registration or more informations, please contact Genie or Doug Haak at (209) 772-2605 or douglashaak@yahoo.com.

Treasurer’s Report:

Sheryl reported that the Chapter has $1,665.97 in the checking account.  Our funds are low, therefore we need to get some fund raisers going.

The Awards Banquet:

Our Awards Banquet was held at the Barnwood Restaurant in Ripon CA.  This years theme was St. Patrick’s Day.  Janelle (even on crutches and with a broken hand) made sure all of the arrangements were perfect and ordered all of the Chapters High Point Awards.  Nannette donated the decorations and Sheryl, Nannette and Susan decorated our room at the restaurant.

Our Chairperson Nannette reported that we have 110 members and all had been sent a newsletter with the Chapter Questionnaire.  To date she has only received 8 back.  Nannette advised the members present that the membership of this chapter must get more involved in order for the chapter to survive.  The core group of members that do everything for the chapter are wonderful people and volunteers, however, they will not be around forever and they cannot continue to do everything for the chapter.  Nannette challenged the members present to contact the other members not present and get them motivated to become a participating member of their chapter.

Nannette advised that she needed a volunteer to contact the members to volunteer for the Chapter shows on April 19,  May 24, and June 21.  Sally Rucker volunteered.  Thank you Sally!!!   Raffle prizes were donated by Julie Wyman, Sheryl Stokes, Susan Capps, Nannette Tosh-Robb, Kandy Nichols, Janelle Dunn (if I forgot someone, I am sorry).   The raffle was fun and the prizes were exceptional!!.
